Shay Jones, LICSW, MHP
My approach to Psychotherapy is a collaborative one, tailored to individual presenting issues, needs and goals. I believe that behavior is relational, meaning it is impacted by how we perceive the world. This perception is formed from what we have experienced in the past. Without insight into how past experiences and perception lead to current thoughts, emotions and behaviors, it can be difficult to break unwanted cycles.
About Me
I received my Under graduate degree in Psychology, followed by my Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from Walden University in 2019. After graduation, I worked for Telecare Community Alternative Outreach providing clinical support, assessment and treatment for adults in need of mental health stabilization during psychiatric hospitalization, as well as providing support post discharge.
Following this position, I worked as an outpatient therapist at Greater Lakes Mental healthcare. During this time, I received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Process therapy, Grief Counseling and Trauma informed therapies including Cognitive Processing therapy and Poly Vagal theory.
In the fall of 2021, I was offered a position as a Medical Social Worker with Landmark Health, a visiting provider group. During this time, I provided assessments and treatment to meet patient psychosocial needs. I was also given the opportunity to gain training in palliative care, to facilitate end of life discussion while providing support to patients and their families.
I have been fortunate to gather vast clinical experience in various settings, and with a wide range of individuals. Throughout my employment opportunities I have found the most fulfillment in the therapist role, which has led me to private practice.
